Alberto Gutiérrez has been appointed Head of Military Aircraft within Airbus Defence and Space and a member of the Division’s Executive Committee, effective 1 January 2019. In addition, he has been nominated Head of Airbus Spain, in charge of overseeing the company’s overall business activities in the country.
Previously, he had been Head of Operations for Airbus Military Aircraft since July 2017. In this position, he was responsible for reinforcing and ensuring an integrated management on Military Aircraft programs.
From January 2016, Alberto Gutiérrez was Head of Combat Air Systems within the Military Aircraft Business Line of Airbus Defence and Space, based in Manching (Germany). In this position, he was in charge of overseeing all Military Aircraft activities such as the production of the Eurofighter and related services.
From 2013 to end of 2015 he was CEO for Eurofighter GmbH based in Hallbergmoos (Germany) on special assignment from Airbus. This organisation manages the Eurofighter programme on behalf of the Eurofighter Partner Companies Leonardo, BAE Systems and Airbus Defence and Space in Germany and Spain.
From 2007 to 2013 he was Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Airbus Military. In this role he was responsible for the worldwide operations of the military aircraft business, including manufacturing and production in all the different sites of the company. During this time, he led the set-up of the A400M Final Assembly Line in Seville, the A330 Tanker Conversion Centres in Madrid, Brisbane (Australia) and Bournemouth (UK), revitalisation of the Indonesian Aerospace Industry and the restructuring of the company’s Polish subsidiary in Warsaw PZL as well as the defence business in Portugal through the Portuguese Company OGMA.
From 2004 to 2007 Alberto Gutiérrez led a restructuring and change project of the Business Line Military Aircraft Systems. Afterwards he was Head of Eurofighter Production for Germany and Spain.
Alberto Gutiérrez´s career started in 1985 as a young engineer in the former CASA in Getafe, working and gaining experience in different positions in Manufacturing and Production, IT, Planning and Programmes. After 10 years, Airbus assigned Alberto Gutiérrez to set up the Eurofighter Typhoon manufacturing and assembly line in conjunction with a multinational team from Germany, UK and Italy. In this role he contributed to setting up the Eurofighter Typhoon supply chain from the very first elemental part to the Final Assembly Line.
Alberto Gutiérrez has a Telecommunications Engineering degree from the Universidad Politécnica of Madrid and holds a master in Information System Management. He is married with two children, enjoys mountain sports and is a fan of the creative cuisine.
